Annual General Meeting 2013
Monday, 1 July 2013
On Sunday, 23 June 2013 at 5pm, the Malaysian-German Society held its Annual General Meeting at the premises of the society. A total of 25 members were present to have a look at the inner workings of the MGS and to assess the past business year.
Our Honorary Secretary, Mr. Ooi Hong Leong, opened the meeting and invited the President, Mr. Karl Ebinger, to give his opening speech. The President introduced Mr Rolf Stehle, the director of the Goethe-Institut Kuala Lumpur, and two board members who have joined earlier this year, Mr Teoh Seng Aun and Mr Benoit Goeuriot. He thanked all board members, volunteering members, staff and teachers for their effort as well as all the sponsors, patrons and government entities for their generous support. He proceeded to give a detailed account of the past year’s activities and spoke a great deal about the new lease agreement for our current premises with MPPP, which he had announced to all members in the previous edition of the Newsletter.
After that, Mr Stehle gave all present members an insight into the relationship of the Goethe-Institut and the MGS by explaining their vision and future plans on how they will support our work and further development as a cultural society and language centre and how we can increase co-operation. There has already been a lot of improvement in our relationship with Goethe-Institut putting the hiccups from previous years in the past.
During the business session, the accounts were reviewed and a resolution was passed to approve the actions of the Board of Management in respect of the past business year. After the Meeting was adjourned at around 6pm, the traditional photo was taken and a nice buffet dinner was served.
