Three-in One Trio
Malaysian-German Society presented a Piano Trio concert to Penang’s music enthusiast community. The concert was held on 12th April at 3pm at USM in Dewan Budaya Auditorium in front of 180 visitors.
Three-in-1 Trio is a group of overseas trained Malaysian Musicians consisting of Yap Ling (violin), Lai Kong Loke (cello), Grace Lee (piano). They performed the works of Brahms (Piano Trio No.3 Op.), Alec Rowley (Kleines Trio Op.46a) and some short pieces. This concert was a concert that MGS collaborate with USM music department.
Yap Ling (violinist) studied in Royal Academy of Music, London. Besides actively performing in Asia and Europe, he also performs in Russia and USA. He conducts violin master classes throughout the country and also for ABRSM. He is the Music Director of Jesselton Philharmonic Orchestra. Grace Lee (pianist) studied in Auckland University. Besides giving solo performances, she plays chamber music and serves as an orchestra pianist. Lai Kong Loke (cellist) did his Post-grad in Orchestra in Kassel Music Academy in Germany. He has performed with National Symphony Orchestra since 1993. He played with Commonwealth Youth Orchestra and Asean - Japan Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo and also some orchestras in Germany while he was studying in Germany. He conducted Georgetown Chamber Orchestra from year 2001-2006 and also performs with Yap Ling and Grace Lee since 2001.
