French Cooking Demo
Thursday, 25 April, 04.00 PM at MGS

Before I went to the French cooking demo on 25 April, I tried to remember what is supposed to be French food for me? First I thought of of a great variety of cheese and wine – things we quite miss here in Penang – ok, but for this you don’t need to learn  how to cook!

So I was quite excited what about to expect. Clarisse, Audrey and Karine from France, and Sylvie from Belgium showed us how to make Tarte Provençale (tomato pie), Caviar d’Aubergine (roasted eggplant dip), Boeuf Bourgignon (beef stew) and the heavenly Crème Brulée (burnt custard). The participants were mainly German and also some local ladies who shared their interest in the fine French cuisine.

After a whole morning of peeling, chopping, dicing, slicing, removing seeds, scraping, blending, spreading, stirring, pouring, simmering, boiling, baking, taking pictures and notes, we finally learned how a dish is done and enjoyed a great lunch together. And there came bread, cheese and wine as well!

Thanks a lot to the four ladies who shared their culture and knowledge with us!
